Rigorous education requirements are a key component of the path to certification, ensuring that FP Canada certificants develop the knowledge and skills required for excellence in financial planning.

Important Changes to Education Requirements

FP Canada is making changes to its certification programs. Effective January 1, 2020, FPSC Level 1® certification will be replaced by QAFP certification and all current FPSC Level 1 certificants will automatically become QAFP professionals. Additionally, new education requirements for both QAFP certification and CFP® certification will be implemented following a transition period.

Capstone Course Requirement for 2019 Exams

For FPSC Level 1 certificants, or those who have qualified for an Alternate Path to Certification, an FP Canada-Approved Capstone Course is the next step on the path to CFP certification. You may also complete the Capstone Course prior to writing the FPSC Level 1 exam.

QAFP Professional Education Program introduces models and techniques for undertaking all phases of the financial planning process in less complex client engagements. This program is a requirement on the path to QAFP certification.
