Strategic partnership highlights international alignment on professional education
October 15, 2025—Reston, VA & Toronto, ON—Kitces.com, a leading professional development platform for financial planning professionals in the US, and FP Canada, a national education, certification, and professional oversight organization for financial planners in Canada, are pleased to announce a partnership that expands continuing education (CE) opportunities for Canadian planners.
As part of the agreement, the FP Canada Institute™ has launched two new webinars, available on demand, in partnership with Kitces.com: Applying Behavioural Finance in your Practice, and Top Questions for Better Client Connections. In addition, the new collaboration will make more than 100 hours of Kitces.com content, which is currently eligible for CE credits from the CFP Board in the US, to also be eligible for CE credits from FP Canada, in the “Financial Planning” category.
This agreement allows cross-border financial planners to earn dual US-and-Canadian CE in a single program from Kitces.com. It also expands the opportunity for Canadian Certified Financial Planner® professionals and Qualified Associate Financial Planner™ professionals to learn more about financial planning developments in the US.
This partnership reflects a shared belief that geography shouldn’t be a barrier to professional development and continuing education. As more advisors serve global client bases, access to trusted, high-quality education—regardless of origin—becomes essential.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with FP Canada and empower Canadian financial planners to earn CE credit for our advanced education content for financial planners,” said Michael Kitces, CFP®, Chief Financial Planning Nerd and Publisher of Kitces.com. “This partnership ensures access to meaningful continuing education that supports the highest standards of client service across borders and gives Canadian financial planning professionals certified by FP Canada more opportunities to learn about emerging financial planning trends in the US that they can apply in their own practices.”
“Financial planning is a truly global profession, with professionals around the world working toward the shared goal of improving people’s financial well-being,” said Alexandra Macqueen, CFP, Vice President, Learning, Development and Professional Practice and Head of the FP Canada Institute. “This new partnership expands access to cross-border learning opportunities, allowing financial planners to broaden their perspectives, strengthen their expertise, and better serve the evolving needs of Canadians.”
