This page is for students currently enrolled in education programs towards Certified Financial Planner® certification or Qualified Associate Financial Planner™ certification at Business Career College (BCC) or the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI).

For BCC students: FP Canada is not renewing its accreditation of BCC’s programs and courses . As a result, effective August 29, 2025, BCC’s full courses and modules will no longer fulfil the technical education requirements on the path to CFP® certification and QAFP® certification.

For CSI students: The accreditation of CSI’s programs and courses as meeting the technical education requirements on the path to CFP certification and QAFP certification has been extended to June 30, 2026. Information about transitioning to courses offered through the FP Canada Institute will be available in late January 2026.

We’re here to ensure students do not face education disruption or additional costs.

At FP Canada, we’re committed to ensuring students who are currently enrolled with BCC and are working to complete education on the path to obtaining CFP certification or QAFP certification, are able to continue their education without disruption or extra fees.

That’s why, for a limited time BCC students have the option to complete their technical education at the FP Canada Institute.

For students who have purchased and are part way through courses or modules on the path to CFP certification or QAFP certification, choose one of these options:

OPTION 1

You are eligible to seamlessly transfer to the FP Canada Institute.
Contact FP Canada to transfer your existing education registration* to the FP Canada Institute and learn how to continue your education on the path to certification. This option expires on August 29, 2025.

OPTION 2

You may continue to complete education through BCC until August 29, 2025.
Courses completed after this date will not be recognized as meeting the technical education requirements for CFP certification or QAFP certification. If you anticipate difficulty meeting this deadline, please see Option 1 above.

*The above-mentioned education transfer option is only applicable to individuals who purchased courses through BCC on or prior to April 30, 2025.

To transfer to the FP Canada Institute, send an email to studenttransition@fpcanada.ca with:

  • your FP Canada ID and an outline of the courses you’re looking to transfer;
  • a copy of your registration receipt for BCC course(s) for education on the path to CFP certification or QAFP certification purchased on or prior to April 30, 2025; and
  • if you have completed courses with BCC, a copy of your transcript so we can assess potential course equivalencies.

If you don’t have an FP Canada ID, create an FP Canada account. Once registered, you’ll find your FP Canada ID at the top of your personal dashboard.

Upon receipt of your email, our Certificant & Student Services Team will review your documentation within 10 business days. Then, you’ll receive an email that identifies the required Technical Education courses remaining on your path to certification, along with information on relevant timelines.

Once you review the remaining steps to completing your technical education and confirm you’d like to transfer to the FP Canada Institute, we’ll update the Education section of your FP Canada account with a list of the technical education requirements you’ve met and the remaining courses to be completed, so you may continue your path to certification without disruption.

If you’re unable to find your course receipts or transcripts, your course provider may be able to provide them to you. If they’re unable to assist you, contact studenttransition@fpcanada.ca to discuss your options.
